At 90m high, the St Columba Falls are perhaps incorrectly regarded as the highest falls in Australia. Nearby Ralphs Falls are 100 metres high but often suffers from a reduced water flow in dry seasons, while St Columba Falls generally remain in spectacular full flow year-round. Set in the St Columba Falls Reserve, the falls cascade down the Mount Victoria foothills into the South George River.

You can see the falls from the car park; however, it is well worth the short 600m (one way) walk to the viewing platform at the base of the falls for a spectacular view.

The track, which is graded Level 2 is suitable for people of most levels of fitness and will take between 20-30mins at a leisurely pace. The walk takes you through areas of tree ferns, myrtle forest and sassafras, and has a moderate uphill climb on you return to the car park.

Note. You may see intake pipes in the river below the falls. These were part of a 45km water race built in the 1930s to provide water for tin mining. It is no longer in use.

Sun protection and clothes suited to the day’s weather are recommended. Children should be supervised near water.

There are picnic and toilet facilities at the car park.

Vehicle Access:
Take the Tasman Highway (A3) from St Helens at Pyengana change to the C428. The falls are a 30min drive from St Helens.
