(42) liffey falls

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesThe beautiful Liffey Falls, as their name suggests, are situated on the Liffey River which flows out of Great Lake. The falls are broad and elegantly stepped, with wide curtains of cascading water flowing down from terrace to terrace creating a wonderful spectacle. The falls are a real favourite with both photographers and artists.

There is a choice of two walks to reach Liffey Falls. Those wanting a longer walk (approx 2.5kms) can start from the lower car park off Gulf Road and follow the walking track, which is less developed than the alternative, up to the top car park and on another kilometer to the falls.

The second and shorter walk is from the car park off Riversdale Road. The walk to the falls from the car park is 1km (one way) and takes approximately 45-minutes. Remember your camera!

The Liffey Falls track is graded at Level 2, meaning it is suitable for people with most levels of fitness.

Sun protection, good footwear and clothing suitable for the weather on the day are recommended. Remember that the weather can change suddenly and heavy rain can occur at any time.

NO pets, firearms or bicycles are permitted.

Facilities:
The lower car park has toilets but other facilities are minimal. The upper car park has toilets, gas BBQ’s, picnic shelters and drinking water.

Vehicle Access:
Buses and caravans can access the lower car park, however the access road to the upper car park is not suitable for either.
You can reach the lower car park from Gulf and Bogan Roads (C513) the upper car park is reached from Riversdale Road which links with Lake Highway (A5) and Highland Lakes Road.
